Let us pray:
Dear Jesus, Lord and Savior, we lift our hearts before you as we begin this novena. Please look kindly upon the families of Seat of Wisdom Homeschool Cooperative, and gather into our group those families, teachers, and students whom you desire to unite in this effort for the good of our children, our families, and your church. May we -- and all others who seek to serve you -- wholeheartedly enter into this school year with sincere hearts, willing hands, and patient spirits. Through the intercession of Mary, your Mother, and the guidance of the Holy Spirit, may our efforts be a pleasing offering to the Father, so that people will know and believe all the Church entrusts to us.
Mary, Seat of Wisdom,
Pray for us!

Just a quick reminder of our co-op social this Saturday at Debbie K's home. Check your email for details!
Also, watch your mail for a novena written for the start of our academic year. We ask everyone to begin praying on Aug. 29. Each day's prayer will also be posted here and on our facebook group page.
Finally, if you are in or considering our group, or wish to show your support for our efforts, we invite you to join our facebook group:
It is an open group and contains quick updates, notes of encouragement, articles and blog posts of interest to homeschoolers, and an occasional piece of homeschooling humor.
Since this is a public group, however, you won't find photos of our kids, out of respect for each family's privacy. Further, we use only professional stock photography here for our website, out of respect for the privacy of our families and the safety of our children. We are looking into ways to share images of school events privately within our group of enrolled families; so as we work something out for that, we'll provide an update.

Yesterday's meeting was a reminder of God's blessings and grace. We've worked hard these past few weeks to build this co-op from the "idea stage" to a structured educational program and supportive Catholic community. After introducdtions and a chance to get to know one another better, we were able to see God's blessings, as we defined our dress code (light blue polo or collared shirt, with navy pants, long shorts, skirts or jumpers). Details will be posted in our upcoming handbook. Photos have been posted on our fhttps://www.facebook.com/Seat-of-Wisdom-Homeschool-Cooperative-459124680962086/" target="_blank" rel="nofollow">acebook page.
Better yet, we were able to sketch out a solid schedule for our various grade levels. Check out our sessions page to see our current offerings as of August 10. Thank you to everyone who volunteered to teach and for all the great ideas.
Members, watch your email for details about our family social for the last weekend of August!

Friends, if you're like me, you are finding that summer is passing by far too quicky. It is nearly August! And with August, comes the next step in our journey.
We will meet on Wednesday, August 10, at 10 am, at Pax, to fine-tune our goals and schedule for the school year. We ask everyone who is interested to attend, if at all possible, and bring your completed application form and $25.00 deposit (which will be applied against the balance of your total tuition fee for the year). You can download a PDF of the application from the "Enrollment Forms" page of the website. We also will have a few extra copies available at the meeting. Anyone wishing to make a payment plan should contact Carlye privately.
If you cannot make it, please contact Carlye in advance. Her phone number will be in the email to be distributed shortly. There, she will outline in detail our goals for the meeting. Among them, I'm pleased to say, is the chance to get to know each other a little better! We have a lot of new families and want to welcome everyone!
We look forward to seeing you there!

Friends, we are growing, with 11 interested families and a few more still discerning. This means some great new class offerings can be worked out and we hope to have two adults in each younger classroom and the nursery. If you're thinking about us but haven't sent in your paperwork, now's the time to let us know. We hope to have a good firm number set by our meeting on August 10. Carlye will email soon with all the details. If you're not part of our co-op group on Google and are joining (or still considering) us, please let me know and I can add you to this closed group. Send an email to [email protected]
In the meantime, I wanted to mention that we're beginning a new SOWERS SOCIAL GROUP on Google, so that Catholic homeschoolers in the Lexington and surrounding areas can keep in touch, discuss general homeschooling topics (not related to a particular co-op), plan field trips, first Friday masses or activities, and community play dates. We invite members of Seat of Wisdom Co-op, Lexinton Latin School, Mater De Scholei, St. Joseph Homeschool Association, and other Catholic homeschoolers to sign up for this group. You can ask to be added to this open group by sending me an email at [email protected], and noting "JOIN SOWERS SOCIAL GROUP" in your subject line.
Look for more updates as September approaches!

I've found a nifty, thrifty website for buying and selling used Catholic curriculum online. Check it out if there's anything you need or want to sell!

My husband shared this article with me today, and it seems well worth sharing with you, as we look toward the fall and our own calling to educate our children to appreciate the true, the good and the beautiful things God has made.
I found it inspiring...can we create that sense of wonder in our children both at home and at co-op? Let's all pray for the graces we need as we look ahead to the new year.
Mary, pray for us, that we may instill in our students a sense of wonder and awe that points to God's great goodness, beauty and truth. Let them be born in wonder...
